Here are a few frequently asked questions about land mulching and land clearing that may help.
Mulching (also known as forestry mulching) your overgrown property is very beneficial to the soil. It creates a mulch much like what you would buy at a store to put in flower beds. It helps improve the soil structure and helps create pores for water infiltration and also acts as a barrier against erosion from heavy rain and also helps reduce weed growth. Very cost-effective compared to other land clearing techniques and equipment. Also clearing the overgrown brush and invasive plants and trees allow for more native species that is beneficial to wildlife.
Of course you could. In fact using a dozer to clear land has been the method used by landowners for years before skid steers with mulcher heads were introduced. The drawbacks to using a dozer or excavator is that all those trees and underbrush has to be pushed in a pile to either haul off, rot or burn rather transformed into a beneficial mulch. Pushing the land with a dozer, you often lose a lot of your topsoil also.
Depending on how thick the area is and how big the trees are, on a average I can typically mulch anywhere from 3/4 of an acre to 3-5 acres in a day (8 hours).
